At a glance – Rose Lane’s Favourite Spice #1 – TURMERIC


If ever there was a super spice, in my eyes turmeric would be it! I love it for its flavour, its vibrance in cooking, and of course for all its wondrous healing properties.

Turmeric promotes healthy skin, support for your immune system, aids skeletal system and joint health, encourages healthy liver function, helps balance your digestive system, maintain blood sugar levels, is an antioxidant – wow! Super spice indeed.

Turmeric contains an active component called curcumin which may stop cancer from spreading and help prevent type 2 diabetes!

Turmeric can also assist in reliving arthritis as an anti- inflammatory, can help lower cholesterol, aids weight loss, and assists wound healing, and more.

Turmeric is a root you can get from your fav fruit and vege place, the root can be grated into meals, or turmeric can come as a ground spice and added to meals. To get the very best from all that turmeric has to offer, you would need to eat a lot daily amount, so an alternative is to take a supplement. Which I do daily.

Another suggestion, my favourite suggestion is to drink an evening turmeric tea. Now wait before you say eeewwwww yuck, this is how I make mine and it is delish! Give it a try:

1 cup of your favourite milk (I use my homemade almond meal – there’s another blog right there!)
1 teaspoon of turmeric
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
2 cloves

Put spices into your teapot and add about an 1/8 cup of boiling water, then warm your milk and add to the teapot. Let it steep, stain and drink! This little treat will also aid sleep.
